weekend recap...

well ladies and gents, i had a splendid little weekend and i thought i would share my adventures with you. you may or may not find it interesting....and so here we go....

friday my friend Brandon and i wandered over to old town for festival of the moon. we had some decent sangeria and listened to some up-and-coming bands. then for the highlight of my day/week/month/year, cartel played!!!! love them so much.

their music is awesome in my opinion. i was introduced to this band (no personnally) by an ex-boyfriend and have since loved their music. the lead singer is phenomenal both musically and in appearance ;) what can i say. i have a band boy crush. whats new. ;)

saturday i woke up and was feeling artsy. i worked out as usual then wandered over to the best store ever: hobby lobby. having never really painted before, i just gather the supplies that were the cheapest and most logical without having any knowledge of what to use for my project. i'm proud of my first painting project. i think it turned out okay - for being the first one. it was fun. i liked doing it. though i am awful at alignment. don't make fun. here are the results:
okay so its all backwards, but you get the point.

after starting the project, i went over to my friend Grant's place. he is in the process of moving out by the end of the month so we had a cook out there with his friends. his cousin's doggie, Emma was there. i love that little pup! so after a long night, i came home and slept soundly in my bed.

today (sunday), i met brandon at church. the sermon was really good today. it made sense and got me thinking [isnt that the point of most sermons?! haha!]

the pastor talked about money today. but thats not what got me thinking. what got me thinking was the "sheep/shepherd" analogy. i have no idea how many times that analogy is in the Bible. the pastor today used the reference from Matt. 10:16 "I am sending you out like sheep among wolves..." then he said something along the lines of it being interesting how we are compared to sheep. because sheep are pretty stupid animals. they are defenseless, mindless animals. they wander off from the shepherd more times than not. and sometimes they come back and sometimes they dont.

i have heard this analogy several times over the years. but for some reason it made more sense today. we are senseless human beings most days. we make some really good decisions that are pleasing to the Lord and then there are days where we screw up, make bad decisions, and stray away from Him. though we usually know what is right, we are dumb like sheep and wander down the road less traveled. sometimes we snap out of our funk and find the paved road that leads back to our shepherd. sometimes we take detour after detour and never find our way back.

i have taken several detours over the last four years. i have lost my way, been beaten by the wolves, and found the paved road again. i have done this routine many times. though i know i will take many more detours in my days to come, i know where my shepherd resides and i know where the paved road is. my goal is to stay on that paved road, and when i get lost, i at least need to keep my eye on the pavement and not wander off to far. my goal is to make decisions that are pleasing to the Lord and be an example of what it is like to be loyal and dependent upon the Lord. the wolves will always exist, the greed, the money, the people who bring us down, but our faith in the Lord needs to be strong enough so that we can overcome them.

as always, i ended up being all "sentimental". deal with it :) hope everyone had an awesome weekend. until next time...
